I think as a general rule of thumb, xeons should be allowed in most legacy comps due to their low price which keeps more in the spirit of what the comps are about. That and the fact there is no real advantage to be had by getting a xeon over a regular mainstream part.

allowing 2011 for div7 would mean that div7 becomes a 6 cores 2011 series...

or the frequency limit should have been set higher such that 6 cores 2011 cannot reach what haswells can.

775, what s the pt of having 775 in there ? 1366 why not since they may compete while not being able to reach 4.7

Well you look at it wrongly Bolc... participating is not the same as I want to win the Division, I wanted it to be open too many so you can have fun without the need for LN2 or other exotic cooling.

So we allow Xeons for  up to LGA1366 (what the poll was about), but not on  LGA2011

Socket wise no issues with X79 or such, efficiency on the newer sockets seems superior (so far)

2011 not allowed but 1366 and it’s xeon’s it is

Is there any octacore xeon on 1366?.

There are only up to 6 cores on xeon, but we need to make sure we state 1 socket only so that dual socket 1366 boards are not allowed, that would be a competition breaker.

 http://oc-esports.io/#!/round/Challenger 2019 Division VII round 1 2019

the rules state no HEDT i7, isn't it ? "the processor choice is limited to Core i7 series (non-HEDT)." aren't 2011 and 2011-3 cpus considered High End Desktop

omg, you copy pasted from the Division 1 and haven t changed the text?

EDIT: a 5960x (haswell-e, socket 2011-3), are you  this is allowed ?  nope, 2011-3 is older.

A list of chipset would be so much easier :o:D

2011-3 is NOT 2011, I added this line:

Only Intel LGA 2011, LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA1155, LGA1150, LGA775, LGA771 or older single CPU sockets are allowed (no other server or ES hardware)

can everybody live with that... seems 2011 is also popular and wide spread...

They don't win every stage, for example pretty sure that haswell will still kick x79's ass in x265 even with a core disadvantage, also ivy is more likely to outclock haswell if anything.

I'm using 2011 most benchmarks have no benefit from more cores and memory oc isn't great on it. I speak for the sandybridge ones. That's what most of the benchmarks require so ...

Why socket 2011-3 aren't allowed ?

They are also Haswell...

Identical as the socket 1150 ??

2011= ivy-sandy

2011-3= haswell-broadwell

Both are LGA2011 as indicate on CPU-Z

There is a huge difference DDR4 and such ... not really legacy hardware in my opinion.
