Achill3uS Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 how cool i like the stages! good luck everyone! but please make this clear "Use 2 processor core(s) in total.", what does it mean? only core i3 allowed? or may i use 6700K and disable rest of the cores/threads? thanks! Quote
Dancop Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Furthermore...if i3...is the 6320 allowed with ht? Or just an i3 without ht? Quote
Xtreme Addict Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Seems like everyone is confused with the rules if it's for Pentium/i3 cpus (Dual Core cpus) or all cpus are allowed, just total amount of enabled cores has to be 2 in total "Use 2 processor core(s) in total." From what I understand 6700K or other i5 are allowed if we disable cores? Quote
Administrators websmile Posted January 18, 2016 Administrators Posted January 18, 2016 I think we talk about genuine dual core, Pentium or i3, no matter if with or without HT. This issue will be cleared soon, before the competition starts. Quote
Doug2507 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I asked lewis this the other day. It's 2 core proc, not 2 core enabled total. Glad I wasn't the only one questioning this! Quote
Xtreme Addict Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Okay... So someone change the rules ^^ and have fun guys Quote
Doug2507 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 If it were 2c enabled I would. I'm out! Quote
Administrators websmile Posted January 19, 2016 Administrators Posted January 19, 2016 Döner There is no limit for graphics cards or graphics cores used, on cpu this is different, dual core cpu only Quote

Doug2507 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Don't know, never taken part in one.... Thanks for clarification. Quote
DrWeez Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Has this ever been allowed in any HWBOT competition? Added to the rules for additional clarification :celebration: Only once, HOT qualifiers last year allowed us to use 6700k with HT off to meet the 4 core restriction. Or that could be different I don't know anymore and it's to late to back down :D:D Quote
Rauf Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Döner There is no limit for graphics cards or graphics cores used, on cpu this is different, dual core cpu only Seems a very strange decision since aquamark scales with at least 2 gpus. Cheap cpus and ultra expensive gpu-setup... Quote
Administrators websmile Posted January 20, 2016 Administrators Posted January 20, 2016 Yes, it is an unusual setup, it is different from what we saw before with the new non K oc now possible. Tbh, I like the idea, and I think you will not need golden sample(s) on vgas to get top result Quote

After considering this, we all agreed that it would be best to limit to single GPU. The limitation has been added to the competition too. Quote
Mylth Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Are all ES forbidden for the competition or just Skylake ES? I have some G3258 ES can I use there for the contest? Quote
DrWeez Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 never any ES in comp's doubt it is gen specific Quote
Mylth Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 i doubt too but i prefer asking because i've a quitte good G3258 ES Quote
delly Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 (edited) for Stage 2-3 are allowed only reference vga or even custom as Strix, Matrix etc.? only ASUS cards right? Nothing EVGA, MSi, GIGABYTE etc? Edited January 24, 2016 by delly Quote
Administrators websmile Posted January 24, 2016 Administrators Posted January 24, 2016 (edited) All Asus models and AMD or NV reference cards, no cards of other boardpartners. This is quite generous rule including reference cards, but I think everyone understands that Asus makes this competition and other brands are not allowed Edit so to specify this, amd and NV branded cards are OK, all Asus branded cards as well, but no cards from other boardpartners like HIS, EVGA or whatever Edited January 24, 2016 by websmile Quote
