May 9, 20205 yr Crew wild guessing in between hero and formula so that would be around 550 euros at launch...

May 9, 20205 yr Crew Great price too bad for us, Euros, with 45 USD shipping plus import taxes probably
May 9, 20205 yr Apex is $399 @ Newegg https://www.newegg.com/asus-rog-maximus-xii-apex/p/N82E16813119293

May 10, 20205 yr That $399 is the sort of competition that will have an impact on the other manufacturers. It may be worth watching a while longer.
May 10, 20205 yr Here in Indonesia, Asus Maximus XII Hero (Wifi) is priced US$500 for pre order price. This price is ridiculous and i may stay on 1151 for longer than it should lol.

My biggest concern is BIOS ready for C14 action? as well as voltages being fully open or not. I would really enjoy a good memory-clocking board that doesn't break the bank. That would interest me too. Since Apex won't be directly avaiable at launch this one could be a cheaper option for time beeing. The Z390 Itx from MSI was pretty good at mem oc.
May 23, 20205 yr It seems the Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Elite is acceptable for mem oc. 4800 14-14 without much fuss, not bad at all for a $200 4-dimm board. I have heard someone mention they got 5000+, but I have not seen screenshots of that yet.
May 23, 20205 yr Crew Yep seems Gigabyte have got a great board there too, think HiCookie already shown 5400 on fakebook

May 23, 20205 yr Crew Well the board seems to be able to do it, so the limitation is the CPU IMC Looking forward to retail nrs
May 23, 20205 yr Well check the performance as well, some subs on 4 dimmers to hit 4800c14 are horrible, tcwl 18 and stuff like that....

Also loose RTL (i.e. 65 65 14 15 etc ...) Still think 4 dimm might be interesting for full bank, sure the clocks won''t be there but I think the performance could be nice if tuned correctly.
May 23, 20205 yr I thought the new Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Elite was looking pretty good, considering price and performance......it’s a board I’m considering buying Edited May 23, 20205 yr by Bullant
May 24, 20205 yr Apex like always. Dark is pricy and usually EVGA boards have slow bios support to non existant.

Yes, Asus releases more BIOSes than EVGA, but both boards run great (I have both of them), so I don't see the relevance of release timing. Also, Vince is uploading XOC BIOSes periodically, so support is far from non existent. Moreover, EVGA warranty is international and covers OC while Asus not on both matters. Maybe Z490 Dark will be cheaper and available in Europe faster and wider.

May 27, 20205 yr I agree with you. We'll just wait and see how expensive it will be Yet, the problem with Z390 was the availability in Europe. Maybe EVGA will fix that from now on.
May 27, 20205 yr EVGA has always seemed to focus more on the US market, lots of availability problems in Europe.

June 11, 20204 yr Author https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=131-CL-E499-KR 550 USD Evga Z490 Dark - versus 400USD for Apex XII. Dark is better? With ship to Europe and fees - easy to 650USD can up his cost. Apex right now on local markets and much cheaper without trouble.
