HI folks, I have problem with my 8700k. Month ago I bench 8700k on Ln2 and everything fished good. This time I use Kingpin cooling inferno. Yesterday start this system on water on CPU temperature is too high about 60c in idle and 85c in load GB3 with 1.25V and 5Ghz on watercooling. Several times i change paste under IHS. Looks like only bug in thermal probe in CPU because IMC work good with memory IMC on that temperature work with memory 2200 12 11 11 Gb3. Any experience similar issue? Bug or CPU go on way without back

  3. Best Mobo X299 for OC - Evga Dark or Asrock OCF? I choose between both. Evga - E-ATX, construction as overall - heavy-duty. Asrock - many know how, highest performance. Which of them allows you to achieve the best results? What can I put less voltage for example? Thanks.

  4. Time for a new guide. After some long tweaking and binning of B DIE memories I found out some tweaks in order to make B DIE fly on ROG boards It works for Maximus VIII Extreme, Maximus VIII Impact, Maximus VIII Gene (all tested by me), no idea if Hero/Ranger have same options in BIOS cause sadly I don't own those boards. Influence on M8E/M8G: - good boards will be able to boot and bench 2x8 GB 4000 CL12 1T TIGHT 2Ds like XTU and 3Ds, inside OS with BCLK raising we can even get more, though SPI32M CW will be very hard (I managed to do 4000 CL12 1T TIGHT only in single channel), and 3866 4x8 GB Influence on M8I: - good board will be able to do 4133+ SPI32M COPY …

Hi everybody! I heard that almost ALL 8086k are very good clockers, even random ones have a high chance being 5400+ on ambient. So, question is, what was the worst that anybody found during their binnings? TIA.

Has nyone been able to get a working XP install on Z370 yet? I'm not seeing a huge advantage for it over Z270 for legacy, but the quality of the 8700k's seems slightly better than Kaby and I want to learn some Legacy benches. Thanks all.

I wonder since there was a way to make the 8700k on z170 and the 9700k and 9900k work on z370 and well the 8700k so does work in z370 this implies the 9700k and 9900k could work on high end z170 mobo? Would be a Z170 OC Formula be enough?

  10. I’ve been testing 2 vs 4 dimm on the Z170/Z270 for some time now and would like to share my experience so far in Geekbench 3. The Gigabyte Z270X Gaming SOC has been the easiest motherboard in my case to push 4 dimm and also the board used here. The testing shown below was done using a i7 7700k processor from Siliconlottery.com and a i3 7350k. Here are two pictures showing 2 vs 4 dimm with everything in the bios at stock: 2dimm: 4dimm: The bios layout of the Gigabyte Z270 gaming SOC is very straight forward. An excellent guide has been published for LN2 usage GIGABYTE Z270 Extreme Overclocking Guide - Overclocking.Guide which I will refer t…

  12. Started by SparkysAdventure,

I'm looking for some information on Coffee Lake mods. I have a Z170 Extreme3 and soon a Maximus VIII Impact, and would like to use them with an 8350k. What would I have to do to get the pairing to work? Also, if I wanted it to work with an 8700k, what other things would I have to do beyond just the mods needed for an 8350k?

  15. HI there guys! Im new here, i know there is a mod BIOS that gives u the posibility of pairing a coffee lake CPU with "old" z170 motherboards. Just know nothing about the method, how to make it, programs to use, how to change the bios etc. I dont even know if its posible to achieve it on my motherboard. I would be very gratefull if somebody could help, and teach me a little more about this so i can give it a try! Thank u all ;)

  16. Hey all, Recently I've delidded a 7980XE ES and before AND after, the temperatures of the individual cores have very big differences between them. For example core 1 can be 70c, while core 12 is 90c and this is the same for several other cores. Some are very cool, some are really hot. I've seen it before with a previous 7980XE ES I've had, so I'm wondering, is this an ES thing, or can it also be seen on retail chips? And can I do something about it? So far the chip has been relidded with a new copper IHS with Liquid metal, but also with the original IHS, but there's not really a difference. Letting the IHS loose without glueing it back with silicon, th…

  19. Introduction It's high time get more familiar with the newest Intel HEDT platform - LGA 2066 and X299 chipset. To be honest I hoped that some other overclockers, who were benching ROG X299 platform more often than I was able to or got access to more models of CPUs than I had, would share their extra knowledge so I could learn something extra to avoid rookie mistakes, but it's already 3 months from the launch and meanwhile I learned some tricks. Maybe they will learn something from me instead Rampage VI Apex The hero of this guide is Asus Rampage VI Apex edition motherboard which continues legacy of Apex line originating from Z270. Looks like from now on the…

Hi! I'm trying to overclock my cpu but I can't go over 3.0ghz... It's stock speed is 1.6 ghz turbo at 2.2ghz. Sadly, my max multiplier is 20 so I need to rise the bclk to get a suitable overclock. My motherboard is an Asus z170i pro gaming and I easily reach 3.0ghz with 150x20 @ 0.95V. (stable) The problem is when I go over 150, it doesn't post anymore and I have no insight on what I should do to make it work.. I need help lol Thanks!

  21. Hi all I just recently ventured into CPU OC (have done GPU before) with my 6600k. Read a bunch of guides, updated my Maximus VIII Hero BIOS and looked through all the settings. I decided to start with a mild OC from 3.9 GHz to 4.3 GHz and had no issues at 1.264v with LLC 5 to manage Vdroop. However, after running a couple of stress tests (x264 and RealBench) I noticed that my temp readings in HWInfo and a couple of other apps I tried were really weird. HWInfo reports the following: CPU temp 38-40C idle and 60C peak CPU Package temp 50-52C idle and 70C peak Individual core temps 13-18C idle and 50C peak The problem with these temps is …

  22. Ill try to cut it short. I am currently running a G4400 at 4.0 GHz on my ASRock Z170 Extreme4 because my 6600k died, and im in dire need of a new CPU right now. Maximum budget all in is around 150€ - Wich rules SKL and KBL out. I am not getting a dualcore or a low spec quad again... The 2 options i have for upgrading are the i3-8350k (150€) quad or the i5-8400 (160€) hexa. I already modded my BIOS to support the quad CFLand it still works, so theres that. Adding another microcode for the hexa isnt the problem The question is one that ive found contradictory info on. Will the non-k hexacore be able to BCLK overclock, or at least fix the multiplier to full boost clock…

  24. MAXIMUS IX APEX OVERCLOCKING THREAD!!!! Figured this board is so amazing we could use a separate thread to post results, show off our mem oc's and show off some of the new APEX features. There are some great new Pro Overclocker memory profiles under "2x8GB New Samsung Single-Side" There is a Dancop XTU World Record Profile. There is a Fredayama 32m profile. There is also a Raja 24/7 profile and another Raja profile under 2x16gb Samsung Double Side. I just got the board so I have only setup OS and boot with xmp to test mem, booted 4266mhz xmp without any adjustments.…
