Hi All, I'm a novice when it comes to overclocking CPU's, I've never had an unlocked one before. I've happily overclocked my old laptop's GTX 980M and gotten some great results. I know have an AORUS X5v6 with a i7-6820HK, I want to push it to see what is capable of. Temps shouldn't be an issue as I can take it into a sub zero environment for testing (I have a large walk-in freezer). AORUS's bios is heavily locked down so any CPU overclocking must be done with XTU or throttlestop or similar. I got a reasonable offer for buying a 2011 motherboard today. The problem is that apparently there's thermal grease in the socket. Never had such issues myself, so I'm wondering if anyone here experienced these things and managed to save the board? Or, how much replacing a socket (ASUS) will cost?

BIOSTAR drew first blood. So excited AMD finally got something that brings back real competition. AM3+ and FM2's are both garbage. The last AMD processor I owned was Phenom II.

Hey guys, i was haveing bios F5 and i have flashed the bios with version F20a and everything went fine ... the install was succesful with no problems but now the motherboard is starting like a normal one ...but no post..no beep ..no nothing .. i have tryed a dedicated video ..no post... i have taken out components one by one and after i emptyed the ram slot and starting the motherboard it beeps ... so the motherboard is ok ...but i have i7 6400t (es) and i was wondering maybe this is the problem with cpu it is not known by bios and wont let it post and if i take out the cpu out it takeing a little power and shuts off ...so i think the motherboard is not fryed ... it is ju…

Hi guys been taking a break from extreme oc and computers in general, but I recently aquired an old and rare MIIIE. I bought it used (ofc), the guy said it didn't start and hung on the cpu_led. This was true, but a simple physical switch between the two bios chips made it start again. However, if I leave it be for a day or more, it needs clear cmos in order to boot, otherwise stuck on cpu_led as before. When that's done I can use it all I want, until I leave it be again. I'm really at a loss for what to do. Cmos battery is replaced and still good.

Just picked up a EVGA 1000w G2. Opened it up and it has the eco mode switch just like the P2. On their website and every where I looked it doesn't have eco mode. The box also shows it having eco mode. Just wondering if anyone had any info on this.

Hi Folks! Have one of the kpc northbridge pots and want to set it up on an asus rampage extreme (x48). Since I'll need to remove all the heatpiped cooling hardware from the top of the board to mount the pot, am wondering what (if anything) needs to be done for all the exposed parts ? For example...not sure running the southbridge without something on it is a good idea? Whatcha think? Also wondering about what temps to shoot for...iirc...someone told me -30 to -40C for the NB? I have a setup of a gigabyte mobo z series a 2500k processor 16gig of ram and a few hdds. I bought a new asus gtx 1070 video card from a Nvidia 660 gtx, my issue is that it's not functioning correctly. Ie: playing ark survival evolved into used to get around 30 fps with my new on I get around 5. I installed the drivers but the experience from nvidia will not install. Recently I got three ASUS EN9600GSO cards, each one has two SLI MIO, so I tried 3-way SLI, but failed. Mobo was Gigabyte X58, the third card was stopped when I used 3-way SLI bridge and ran SLI mode, and device manager showed error code 43 for the third card. Some people said 9600GSO was not Tri-SLI capable, I think maybe the driver blocked Tri-SLI, maybe I should do some mod, for example 9600GSO to 9800GT BIOS mod, even electronic mod, but I totally have no idea. Attachments show GTX 560 OEM Tri-SLI bench, that card also have two SLI MIO and 2-way SLI only by Nvidia website.
