Something I always wonder ... who are the people that are an inspiration for others to get into overclocking. Post your list of maximum 3 global and local overclockers that inspired you to start this crazy hobby!

...at lest it seem to be. Alright, let's get straight to the point: the ESO (European Southern Observatory) published a picture of the Milky Way (its center only) which weighs 24.6GB. It can only be opened with Photoshop. There is a torrent available (I'll send it upon request to prevent massive leech) but no direct link as the ESO removed the link due to massive demand. The challenge is to open it as fast as you can. I personally had to allocate 20GB of swap otherwise I'd get a BSOD. You can either use 6x6GB (36GB) or 4x8GB (32GB), or any other combination it's up to you. Clock it as high as you can with the lowest timings. Anyone interested ?

Well sure looks like it to me based on what I've seen with these challenges: http://hwbot.org/challenge/rondalvess_cpu_frequency_country_challenge___aug_21_2012_until_aug_28_2012/ This one was only for folks from Brazil. http://hwbot.org/challenge/rsa_alvess_cpu_frequency_global_challenge___aug_22_2012_until_aug_29_2012/ This was for anyone wanting to take a crack at it. Note that the winning result from both was the actual limitation/handicap of the challenge itself meaning any challengers could not win = No chance in Hell guys. I understand these are for fun, not moderated and yes, I also don't have to compete in any of these myself BUT isn't this may…

How do you guys store your GPUs once you've acquired a bit of a collection? I used to use a drawer but I've got a few too many for that now and was hoping to get some ideas.

News is still fresh and no specific details are known yet, but it seems our beloved vice president of HWBot.org didn't appreciate his happy ending massage of last nite. We hope to get more news from the Taiwanese paparazzi to find out what exactly happened and if he was smiling at the moment it happened. In respect I would ask you all to add a kind topic in your favourite messenger application, in respect of one of Belgians biggest overclockers Pieter-Jan Plaisier. I really hope the Aussies are not behind this

(Sorry if a thread like this has been created,if so please merge this thread) Just wondering how all of you guys got started with your overclocking adventures? For me it was just a natural progress when i started getting into computers and hearing the term "overclocking" said. I didnt know what it is so after some searching i got a understanding. I think it was around 2008 when i did my first overclock on a E6550 with the stock intel cooler. I had no idea what i was doing so i just increased the FSB a little and it booted so i tryed higher. I had heard of these programs called "benchmarks" so i decided to run a program called 3d mark vantage and i got a score …

...had to smile about one little CPUz-Link yesterday... 6982 MHZ done in "Taiwany" or "Germanistan" Tells us 3 things: 1. Give Suicidephoenix a good chip and he takes it to the max! Great work Jan! 2. CPU-mafia still has some very nice spare-ES! 3. ASRock will soon claim some 7 GHZ on their "NEW OC FORMULA BOARD"... ...just sandbagged a bit longer than ASUS and Gigabyte PS: oh and maybe the board isn't too shabby either

I hate that it's a legitimate strategy in this hobby. In my opinion, it's for people who are afraid their best isn't good enough.
