  3. Could this perhaps be a good moment to pause and consider having all the exotic categoriy splits in the first place? We now have 3 types of cores per CPU, each available in pretty much single digit increments up to 16. And this will only get worse over time. As a spectator, I don't give a rat's ass about, say, 14900K benched as 8P. It's sold as a 24c CPU, it's supposed to be used as a 24c CPU, ffs.

  4. As some of you noticed a lot of drama has been ongoing about certain team loosing a lot of points and some even dropping a few spots in the ranking. It seems some think this was a premeditated act to achieve the above and to mess around. I think we all have better things to do as a there is still a lot of work to do. Biggest issue was this was implemented without any checks of the moderation Team. The point/competition algorithms are for 90% based on a totally new code and this means a lot of old bugs of the original point system have been finally adressed. Sadly as with everything in the semi conductor world new code usually means a few new bugs will pop up and these will also need also to be fixed asap. So what happened over the last weeks and mainly the final weekend of October 2023. 1) When a user quits HWBOT and decides to delete his account, the subs were not deleted but remained active for the Team he was active in. These scores would carry the Team Name. Over 8000 of those subs have been removed We decided to remove all these subs as there is no trace of the existing user and this person decided to remove his account anyway. 2) A lot of benchmarks had no more support and were easily buggable, think of AIDA64, Realbench, the infamous software hacked PCMark05,... It was decided years ago to no longer give any points for these benchmarks but to keep the ranking intact. The individual boints were already removed a long time ago, but the teams still got Global and/or Hardware Team Power Points. 3) Number three might seem weird but Teams still received GTPP and HTPP points for a few removed benchmarks, this is something Tim discovered while going trough the code... I myself don't recall either but some benchmarks, of the pre Cinebench R15 era, were removed, but Team points were still in the points tables for these non-existing benchmarks. 4) The "Edit your score bug" has been resolved, but till a few weeks back editing your score always gave the maximum of points per benchmark. Also these were also not always picked up when recalculating the benchmarks. 5) The merging of "With BenchMate" with the original benchmarks still had several double point counts. Meaning a user would still could have points for the "with benchmate benchmark" and the original benchmark category, so Happy hour of Hwbot points. These scores have been merged now or nullified. Hopefully Tim caught them all... 6) Still ongoing are a lot of subs that need manually editing as either the CPU or GPU model are missing, these are in general pre-2009 submissions, but we still need to go through over 5500 of these manually Below is a comparison so one has an idea of how big the impact of the aforementioned actions is on some ideas. We are referring to removed points, not submissions Ofcourse loosing points is never a fun thing, people have invested time and money to get these subs in. But in all fairness many Team Power points were incorrectly added to the Team total and this for years and years.. It was high time to address all this so that in 2024 all point code is correctly functioning. More things on the list of Tim: - The old "you lost, gained" hardware points will be added again to the profile wall - Deleting Team subs will be added to the Team Captain role - More transparent display of point changes - ...

  9. I’ve decided to let go of a significant portion of my legacy hardware collection that I will never have the time to bench. Most of this hardware was purchased over the last 3-4 years and has sat unused in its box before I pulled it out for testing in preparation for this sale. As such, most items are tested for functionality only, not binned or performance tested unless otherwise noted. Apologies for any out-of-focus photos and the slightly incorrect timestamp, it took a bit longer than expected to get this together Photo albums for each item linked at the end of each line. (Google Drive folder of most photos here.) All prices are before shipping. Can ship worldwide at buyer expense. PP F&F payment preferred (or G&S +3%). Bank wire transfer / Zelle also accepted. Boards Socket LGA1150: 88. [$120] ASRock Z97 OC Formula REV. 1.02 (Z97). Boxed; manuals, socket protector, and I/O shield included. [Imgur] Works fine, used for CPU and mem binning for a year; no serious boot loop issues, etc. (like as seen on items 26 and 27). Also used for a little bit of effi testing. For transparency, the voltage scaling on the B channel is a bit weaker than on the A channel, and I got another OCF which is a little better on this matter. With that said, the board is still plenty capable, e.g. of 1350MHz+ 8-12-8 and 1400MHz+ 8-13-8 32M PSC in dual channel, so this shouldn't be a huge concern for most users. Other 83. Realesed and Beta Benchmarks maintain the GTTP and HTPP Catzilla is still in the benchmark list but doesn't get any hardware points, so Team boints are also removed XTU due to the bugged output became Bointless, but GTPP HTPP were still attributed... these get zerood Anyways we are still doing recalcs... so nothing is final yet

  16. Hello all. I purchased an EVGA Z690 DARK from alexro from romania earlier this year for 300€. It was advertised as good, working, no damage was stated in the ad. The board has arrived in a physically damaged state, some SMD components torn from behind the chipset, sadly some with pads and traces included (it was NOT a shipping damage, the box it came in looked perfect, also the missing components were NOT inside the box or antistatic bag anywhere to be found). I let the seller know about the issue 4 minutes after getting the package from the courier. His only reply was "lol I didn't see that haha". I found the response weird, but I didn't wanna whine, so I rather waited (this was a mistake on my side, I agree) till I was able to save up money to buy myself some CPUs. Some time later a CPU came, but the motherboard is super toast, doesn't even turn on, cannot even get it to 00. Bios flashback is not working either (my CPU works in another board). I contacted him again but he instantly gave me an attitude, hostile, arrogant behavior from the getgo. Telling me I was mentally ill for not trying the motherboard for multiple months since purchasing. Told him I had financial reasons and also it does not make it my fault that the board is damaged just because I took *more time than he thinks is acceptable* to test it, he was well aware of the damage from the beginning, and I asked him to help me out in the situation. His response was "how about you get the fvck out, does that sound like help?" and go ask Vince (kp) for SMD values and try to repair the board myself. He later called me little shit, retarded, etc. Told me I totally deserve situations like this and when I said I'd rather return the board and not get scammed, he told me he never scammed anyone including me but never agreed for a refund, partial refund, return or anything. I paid by PayPal F&F so opening a case is not an option there. A friend from the NL measured his Z690 Dark and I got the SMDs replaced that still had pads in place, but it made no change, board didn't come back to life. At this point I think I can safely say he scammed me and the way he dares to talk to people even on its own is something only a sick, cruel selfish person would do. Hardly recommend everyone never to conduct any business with the person. I heard lots of stories of him being rude and arrogant, but never actually scamming someone with a dead product. Also I heard multiple stories where he delivered and the product was as described, good overall deal, but sadly that also doesn't help me not lose my money and a motherboard and get verbally abused by the seller.

  19. By Hassan Mujtaba at - https://wccftech.com/asrock-110-us-b650-motherboard-sets-overclocking-world-record-amd-ryzen-9-7950x-cpu/ When we talk about extreme overclocking and breaking world records with the latest CPUs, we almost entirely expect it to be achieved on a flagship or high-end motherboard that costs several hundred dollars but what if an entry-level motherboard were to set world records using one of the fastest multi-threaded CPUs on the consumer segment? Well, ASRock has achieved just that with its $110 US B650 motherboard. A New Entry-Level Overclocking Legend Is Born! ASRock's B650M-HDV/M.2 Motherboard Achieves Record Shattering Performance With AMD's Ryzen 9 7950X CPU I was shocked myself when I learned about this overclocking achievement from the Canadian enthusiast and overclocker, SaltyCroissant, who used the ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 motherboard and an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core CPU to break into the highest-performance world record ever-recorded on a 16-core chip. The overclocking was done with extreme cooling such as Liquid Nitrogen which kept the behemoth AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CPU running at 6.834 GHz across all of its cores and what's impressive is that it was done on the ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 motherboard which has a 8+2+1 phase design. This is an entry-level motherboard and usually what you'd expect is to see such overclocks on super high-end motherboards with a higher number of VRMs than what is featured on B650M. With the correct settings applied, the ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 was able to keep the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CPU running stable in the 7-ZIP benchmark in which it achieved the 16 Core CPU OC record and also the fastest performance ever recorded for the CPU itself in this particular benchmark. The score was 306,686 MIPS. Overclocking legends such as SPLAVE & SAFEDISK congratulated Salty on his achievement and it looks like this motherboard might be the best performance per dollar board ever made in recent history. That statement might be true since the ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 costs just $110 US at Microcenter and can even be found at other retail outlets for $139 US which is still a great price given its superb OC capabilities. It goes off to show that one shouldn't doubt entry-level motherboards just because of their prices. There are hidden gems all around us and once again proves that the OC enthusiast space is helping people discover some amazing components for their latest PC builds. * Congratulations @saltycroissant on this remarkable achievement * Source: https://wccftech.com/asrock-110-us-b650-motherboard-sets-overclocking-world-record-amd-ryzen-9-7950x-cpu/

  20. Now that Country Cup 2023 is over and there are no longer stakes in terms of how the competition goes, I’m hoping we can have a sensible and constructive discussion about how it was run. Let me say up front, I know some people may find all this as a bit much. They might wonder why I care so much. The truth is, I care so much because it would be so easy to do the right thing - and when the right thing is easy, not doing the right thing is terrible. What Happened: During the competition, there ended up being several changes to stages. I can’t actually say for sure how many, since there’s no transparency about when stage rules are changed. However, there are two that I know for sure, and think are worth discussing. First, the superpi 32M bclk stage. This was changed to exclude socket 775 due to benchmate issues, and as a result the multi cap was raised from 8x to 9x to include socket 1156. I bring this up as an example of a stage where the changes were well justified. I want to show that I’m not just blindly opposed to any action, any change – even though that change wasn’t good for me personally. Second, the Cloud gate iGPU stage. At some point in “early november” – therefore at least 2 weeks into the competition – “Xeon CPUs allowed” was silently added to the rules of this stage. This had the effect of changing the optimal hardware to exclude one iGPU from a fully unlocked CPU, in favour of a BCLK OC’d Haswell Xeon (costing $100+ and with little reason to own for OC) that benefits from a separate hardware listing. The justifications given when this was talked about on Discord were, in chronological order: 1) “so people can complain and keep the discord thread alive” This was seriously the only justification given at first. 2) “This wasn't added recently fyi…” This was said on the 1st of December – since the change was silent a lot of people took a while to notice. That doesn’t make it better! 3) “Xeon iGPUs don't offer any significant advantage over their non server counterparts, in fact they will be less performant in this benchmark” This simply wasn’t true, as allowing xeons meant you could have HD 4600+P4600 rather than 4600+4000. CPU clock matters, but not that much. So ok, it was an error. But also – in that case what about the double-digit number of other stages where xeons would have genuinely offered no advantage? So, unlike the superpi stage, there was no real justification given for the change. Eventually, after having to drag Roman into it, I got one more drop of reasoning: 4) leeghoofd didn’t think there were xeons with iGPUs when the change was made. Had he been right about this, adding “Xeon CPUs allowed” would have had zero effect on what hardware could actually be used for the stage. OK. So it wasn’t supposed to have an effect. But then why make the change at all? Why play with fire? When I talked to Roman on the 4th of December he said he’d “try to follow up with Albrecht and that he gets in contact with you again”. A patient month later, that hasn’t happened. I am still none the wiser as to what led to the bright idea to make this arbitrary change in the first place. Why This Matters: This has happened before, and it earned hwbot a write up in igorslab, as well as completely turning off at least one participant from future involvement in hwbot: https://www.igorslab.de/en/the-dirty-business-behind-hwbot-competitions-a-field-report-as-editorial/ Those events, within the last year, led to a statement from Roman, including 2 key points: “I totally agree that it’s unacceptable to edit rules of the competition after it started.” “It is also not in [HWBOT mods] interest to cause any unnecessary conflicts or drama – nor do they personally benefit from it.” So… why did the “unacceptable” happen AGAIN, causing nothing but unnecessary conflicts and drama? Why was arbitrary hardware silently added to the cloud gate stage weeks into the competition? I was very enthusiastic about country cup when it started, participating very heavily and encouraging others to do the same. The fact that this change happened completely ruined the competition for me. Afterwards, I made one other submission as a favour to teammates with conflicting hardware. I honestly regret participating at all. The truth is, I’m not sure if I want to get involved in another hwbot competition now – and I know I’m not the only person to feel that way. What Next? Personally, I believe very strongly in seeing the best in people. I want to understand why this happened so that I can forgive and forget. But I can’t do that if the chain of thought that led to this change is kept a secret. I am begging leeghoofd to please meet me halfway here by explaining the thought process that inspired this change specifically being made. So far all I’ve heard is retroactive justifications. I’m sorry, but how can I trust that a mistake like this won’t be repeated if I’m not even allowed to know where the mistake came from? I would also love to hear from other users on what they think could be done differently so that problems like this don’t happen again. Not just “don’t do it again” – we had that back in March and it didn’t stick – but structural/procedural changes. There have been multiple competitions in 2023 tainted by unjustified after-the-whistle changes to rules. How can hwbot do better in the new year, and begin to mend what has been broken?

  21. Something new for you! Found out two new strap/divider combinations: 1:1 (100MHz strap) and 1:1 (166MHz strap) FSB 100 1:1 FSB166 1:1 Feel free to play with it. I've updated the benchBIOS to version 1.1. As you can see, PAT works on these dividers with 865PE boards too (checked on P4P800 and P4P800 SE). @Tzk@digitalbath you might be interested in this finding. Digitalbath you might want to add this to your P4P800 SE BIOS. FSB100 is value 0000 and FSB166 is 1101. benchBIOS v1.1.zip

  23. This is the Limited Edition Card where only 100 were made. This one is number 4. Mainly geared towards collectors. This card requires two 12VHPWR connectors, or 8x 8pin PCIe Connectors to go with the included adapters, so ensure that your PSU is capable of handling this. Has been used on and off for a year. Two years of manufacturers warranty remaining. €1300 EUR + Shipping As it's a collectors item and comes with the suitcase. It comes with the suitcase that contains: The GPU with the Aircooler The Special Edition Bitspower Waterblock Cable Adapters Dogtag with the number 4/100 Tools for fitting the waterblock GPU anti-sag bracket PC Building Gloves Special Edition Galax LCD screen I'm in Greece and can ship globally with your choice of shipping company, but be aware that the suitcase is heavy and shipping will likely be expensive.

  26. Coz we all have day time jobs and submission were not tested as it was already reaching midnite. We took the decision to put the bot back online, so you can compare scores when benching as it would take another 2 -3 days full offline to fix it all at once. Most reported stuff has already been mentioned a few posts above ( broken profile links, missing cups, ... The submission woes is new. Tim is working on it. Just bench, have fun, standby to submit... or live on the edge

  27. Please be aware that removing OCP on this board can be dangerous as the VRM isn't really that amazing and has a few major design issues. Removing part PR61 shown on boardview (ILIMIFS Resistor) will remove the OCP entirely, I would recommend replacing with a higher value resistor as stock is only 15k just to make sure the VRM doesn't explode. Used said board I removed it on for a couple quads on LN2 but will note the VRM will run VERY Hot and 100% will need heatsinks and active cooling. If anyone else has anything they'd like to add feel free.

  31. I was always under the assumption that the version history page of System Info has download links to all the old versions but recently learned that is not the case, so I went and backed up as many of them as I could. Currently this includes: Version 5.xx: 72/72 versions as of April 2024. Will be automatically scraped and uploaded to the shared link. Version 4.xx: 21/38 - missing versions predate the Steam depots and most official builds of 3DMark/PCMark so might never be complete without official help from UL or community. Version 3.xx: 4 versions, no official version history to track. Version 2.xx: nothing, does this even exist? Version 1.xx: 1 version, uploaded for the sake of inclusiveness. Feel free to download your copies from: https://cloud.codin.uk/s/TMCy7SqyYMonNng. This is self-hosted so keep retrying occasionally if link is down. Check the changelog file for official download links where available. Most files are downloaded from UL themselves using hidden links or Steam depots, but check with your antivirus for peace of mind. SHA-256 checksum available. Got a version you want to share with others? Please use the following link to upload it and I will add it to the collection: https://cloud.codin.uk/s/BsfPbsjxHP3T9La I will try to add mirrors in the future to avoid dead links, but will encourage everyone to do a full download and share themselves. Thread will not be updated when new versions are available, but will do my best to update on major news.

  37. Hello everyone, Since AS SSD 2.0 is not hidden anymore, the issue that was happening before is still relevant and possible. Basically running a P5800x / P5810x on Windows 7 with Intel drivers has a very high chance 100% chance of bugging out the 4K-64 Read, which results in some unrealistic scores. You can reruns it a shit load of times, and I assure you, you will get score bigger than 40k. Edit : I misremembered. You can "bug" out the benchmark without any rerun from a coldboot, and drivers version doesn't matter. What I would like to enforce is a cleanup of Optane score used on W7 and a rule that forbid w7 and its server counterpart. Let's discuss this, thank you

  43. Is HWBOT certain that the code ( an old code indeed - is that SQL ? ) operates correctly ? These massive ups and downs can't really be justified. Also, it would be nice if you provide to the community a final clear picture of what stays and what goes. Most of us are pretty much confused. Thank you kindly.

  46. On Wednesday 28th of June HWBot will be patched once more Tim has focussed on the competition engine and adapted the code to properly work with the updated software versions. This seemed hit and miss as some finished competitions got an "updated" leaderboard, some stages no longer being displayed... You will notice slightly layout differences and more accurate and more scores being listed The profile wall comments have been adressed. The profile wall will only list submissions from the current year. The Challenges part of HWBot has received a fully revamped code I've been entertaining myself over the last months by and just finished in due time before heading over to Computex: wading through over 13000 double, triple accounts sharing a similar email... manually correcting over 9000 submissions that were either missing CPU or GPU details... and thus missing a lot of boints, not being ranked or kept on reqesting to be ecalculated. another 1700 spam bot accounts have been flushed down the drain too Up next: the Competition points bug for Team Cup and Country Cup Fix the Top 10 competitions for year X on your profile page Fix the World Records page
