Anything goes.

  1. I am tired of all this ES-madness...whatever "pro" you are - always keep in mind it will be RETAIL we (should) make competition (of any kind) with. So I have cleaned my bench-place, ES-free and waiting for retail now... My gf found some space for some easter decoration also You ask why this deserves a topic? Wait until NDA fall...I will make a first conclusion about what "IVY" does mean for (extreme)overclockers then...

Let's share our collection of broken hardware ! Me first: http://s4.noelshack.com/old/up/wp_000207-7f12225935.jpg http://s4.noelshack.com/old/up/wp_000208-ed555f2130.jpg Poor laptop...

  3. Round two guys. http://asus.hardwareheaven.com/ The aim is to achieve the maximum overclocking perctentage. To do this applicants must run CPU-Z on their rig at home at stock speed, then again once they have the OC set to MAX. Screenshots showing both Stock and OC speeds must be attached to the entry form or validation links submitted to hardwareheaven. Good luck to all

  4. interesting, so whats the go?

There was an auction on ebay in France named ''Motherboard for sale'' No picture And in the description it was written: ''Motherboard + CPU + 4x 512MB Memory + Graphic card + CPU Cooler'' for 40 + 10 €. ... Dunno why I bid, what the hell anyway I bid. I received the package today, Guess what ? Motherboard: ABIT IC7 MAX3 + Full Copper Chipset Cooler Thermalright with active fan CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.4 GHz Extreme Edition Memory: 2x 512MB Winbond BH-5 + 2x 512MB Samsung TCCD Graphic card: Albatron FX5600P CPU cooler: Full Copper Cooler with heatpipes with active fan :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

What every overclocker, bencher and gamer is used to be... What (lucid) marketing says... What FM says... What gamers expect... What hwbot says... What I (and est. 99.9% users currently) know actually... What I speculate on hwbot... PS: WHILE FPS ALWAYS STANDS FOR COMPLETELY / FULLY RENDERED FRAMES, WHICH INDICATES TRUE PERFORMANCE OF A GPU IN 3D Insert opinion here: regards SoF

  10. Seriously, why didn't we just all embrace PhysX for Vantage . Nowadays, Vantage is limited by CPU in both the GPU tests and the CPU tests. If we would've allowed PhysX for the CPU test, at least it would be more GPU-bound than anything else. Surely, someone would've figured out how to use PhysX on ATI so the playing field was level again.

well i had arranged to have a nice GPU given away for hwbot members, i recived this email back from hwbot Hello Casey, Thanks for inquiring Mass Luminosity to give away a nice prize at hwbot. We love community give-aways! However, we don't want to hold competitions that have as only objective to raise the popularity of an external site. In this particular case, the Facebook page of Mass Luminosity. How generous the give-away might be, it does not relate to anything we do with hwbot apart from serving a community. Best regards, Pieter. now with that said, i guess there should be no more prizes from gigabyte, msi, g.skill. etc. as each contes…

Am I missing something, or is the "New Livestream" insisting on $45 a month to broadcast?

  16. Started by Massman,

People say they are taiwanese, but are they the only ones? Is there something like the mainboard maffia? Gpu maffia? More info and pictures wanted!

  17. ... sometimes it's nice not being allowed to participate in competitions ...

  18. Ok Guys are you ready, if so get you engines started we have a great competition for all UK overclockers, the competition is all about overclocking to the maximum MHZ you can from the stock MHZ using only an air-cooled set-up, this can be of your choice, so no limitations to whatever setup or system you want to run. the best bit it’s in the comfort of your own lair, we invite you to generate the MAXIMUM OC PERCENTAGE possible. Run CPU-Z on your rig at STOCK speed, then again once you have the OC set to MAX take a CPUz and email those links. The 12 fastest overclockers will be invited along to the finals. Good luck lads I know you will do us proud. All info …

  20. Remember how Intel CPU cooler have that copper core and usually are hollow under the fan? well I was just checking my old Q6600 cooler, i took the fan off, and there is a very sizable hollowness. Now i gave it some thought, first of all it would work, as poorly as it would, it still would work. Such little surface area with such little mass couldn't hold much heat, but maybe it could? as this cooler is designed to handle heavy load's, maybe 1/5 of the weight of a proper pot. Anyone ever see things they thought would make great cheap POTs for people who don't want to buy one, but might wanna try Ln2 on a older system? I think it'd be a good idea, i might try this…

  21. Started by Massman,

... and how much would you pay? Just a question that came to mind when checking out the posted for the Cambridge Big Freeze weekend. Let's say, the set-up is as follows: - one weekend - unlimited ln2 - 50~100 overclockers attending - pay own travel - pay own food - sleep on floor next to bench setup How far would you travel and how much would you pay for the trip. Unrelated to anything HWBOT has planned whatsoever at all ...

  23. Hey, this week-end wasn't exactly what you call "a good day in benching" for me but as I read about people and their degraded chips it could be worse ^^ shared pain is half the pain, so here we go with more things round about the "we'll let the user beta-testing that"... 1. 525€ 3930K C2 CPU comes BOXED with no stock cooler Well it is not unknown but wasn't made big news either - there have been news about Intel maybe coming with watercooling (and a sidenote it wasn't going to be included)... but when I finally got my self-payed-long-awaited C2 in a little box I was kinda negatively surprised a bit. seriously: in amounts like Intel could make it a sim…

  24. ...idea came during a random MSN conversation. During an interview, you're often asked to tell about your hobbies. If you describe overclocking 'as it is' you'll use terms which in eyes of a non-OC person mean 'deliberate hardware damage'. The challenge - is there a way to fully describe what we do (modding + clocking + cooling) as a 100% harm-free activity to a noob?
