I had half an idea last night What do you guys think about: Award points for a score based on how much of a lead it has over the score it beats. At the moment, the exponential points difference at the top of popular leaderboards IMHO, is skewed. There could be 1 point in score difference and there will be 10 points difference. It might encourage people to stop playing backup games and stop sandbagging generally. It would encourage people to push harder, knowing that big leads get more points. At the moment, if someone can get a certain ranking and not pass the score ahead... they usually stop. It encourages a wee bit of laziness sometimes..... if there was mo…

Why are the screenies submitted as "proof" sometimes shown as thumbnails of the image and other times shown as only "placeholders"?

Hi guys.... July 2K10... All 3D benchmarks, some would say except FM 3DM03, are CPU limited, bigtime, when using 3-4 GPU.... I therefore suggest; NO CPU SHARRING, CPUs are to be restricted to ONE user for 3D exactly as it is on 2D tests..... Ofcause you are to use same CPU on multiple types of graphics cards, BUT, I really dislike the idea of joint benchsessions, not for the company and sharring tips and tricks, but in order to use the better processor for acheiving 3D results.... I knew before this that MASSMAN will disagree, but please, I would like to hear everyones opinion, and think HWbot forum is the exact right place of doing so! Take care, Marc

Quote : As PCMark 2004 can make use of multiple processor cores, the rankings are split up by the amount of cores in use. Please select a ranking. But in fact there is no split Option, The amount of Cores are all mixed. Is it a bug ?

I was looking to submit more of my benchmarks, particulary for my Alienware M11x notebook. When I went to choose the GPU there is no option for the Nvidia GeForce 335M. Is it possible to add this to the hardware? I didn't see anywhere to submit this to a moderator or anything on the home page. If somone can point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it.

hello all, this my first topic on the forum. i have an idea, as we all know most benchmark programs today are CPU limited. but as far as i noticed 3Dmark Vantage has a standalone score for GPU the problem is there is a lot of GPU that overclocks like a charm and hits great numbers but their owners don't have a good high end CPU which means their overall score will be lowered overall. my suggestion is as 3Dmark Vantage is a GPU benchmark right?? so it will be nice to make the GPU score the main score of it, not the performance set as it now , which will provide more accurate comparison between the GPU cards i hope my English is good

Hey guys, Very recently, my mind was blown when I realized a lot of people draw conclusions based on the overclocking results of one or two people. Just an example: reaching high spots in the 3DMark Vantage benchmark equals "very good mainboard". Reaching the highest clock in 3DMark03 means "the best videocard". Obviously, things aren't as simple as that. The results of one person may be an indication of the overclocking capabilities, it doesn't mean that it's the best per definition. The question is now ... how do you compare hardware in terms of overclockability? What do you take into account for making a hardware ranking? Once the questions are answered, we…

Hey boys and girls, Came across this neat-looking feature titled 'conduit toolbar' last night and decided to set one up for HWBOT as well. Basically, it's a small toolbar add-on for your Firefox/IE7 browser that gives you quicklinks to the most visited hwbot pages (new submissions, submit score etc) as well as a news ticker with the latest hwbot headlines . Download link: http://hwbot.OurToolbar.com/ Since I'm quite new to the entire toolbar community thing (I like my browser clean and tidy) I'm very much open to suggestions. Just let me know what would be cool to have and we'll add it for you . Oh, by the way, the more users that actively use this toolbar…

Hey guys, As you might've seen, we've updated the achievements a few weeks ago. The goal is to add a lot more so you have more things to do than just grab points for the team. Since inspiration sometimes gets a bit lost and as this ultimately is for your pleasure, I'm wondering if you guys have suggestions for cool and nifty achievements. Just reply in the thread if something comes to mind. Technically, anything HWBOT related should be possible (mem, mobo, scores, dates, etc etc).

I’m not sure this is in the right place so if not I guess it will be moved. Anyway I run different Ati GFX cards in crossfire, I call it mixed crossfire. The problem I having is finding a way to enter the correct number of GPU’s? If I’m using one 5970 (2xGPU’s) and one 5870 (1xGPU) that’s two GFX cards (only 3xGPU’s) but when I enter two GFX cards then start with the 5970 it always comes up as four GPU’s as I can’t find a way to enter the second GFX card as a 5870? Do I need to inter three GFX cards then use the 5870? That wouldn’t be right as if I’m not mistaken the 5970 is more akin to the 5850 (clocks) than the 5870? When I use one 5970 and two 5870’s (4xGPU’s…

Hey, Now that the competition engine is up and running quite good it may be time to use the engine to gather information of the past and future live overclocking events. I'm sure it will be interesting to see who attended what event and how he/she did on the event. For that, I need as much information as possible about these events documenting pictures, videos, rankings, articles etc. Let's use this thread to gather as much info as possible. 1. GIGABYTE A. GOOC 2007 - invitational world wide event? - Quick 'n' dirty overview of videos of GOOC 2007 WorldWide B. GOOC 2008 1. NORTH AMERICAN REGIONAL FINAL - Quick 'n' dirty overview of vide…

I'm so glad to see memory ocing clocking , benchmarking , etc on hwbot and i've a suggestion to hwbot crews and wants to know ideas of other ocers . What's your idea about adding hwbot pointing system for memory clocking too ? ?( Like Max Freq and etc ) In this way many people will try to give more points by ocing memories too and memory will be a part of serious overclocking like CPU and vga . Hi to all Every day many peoples submit their oc results and join this global league Because they love overclock and working by high freqs but sometimes we see that our friends get banned! because of FAKE result possibility!! it is so easy for admins to hit one key! and ban an overclocker... but it is hard for us to show the result is not fake So, feel free (plz) say your opinions about this result: http://img.hotoverclock.com/viewer.php?file=38204558196965996794.jpg is this Fake? is artifact an unusual issue on hot gpus?? the vga (8800gtx) pictures: http://img.hotoverclock.com/images/98360990684119084626.jpg http://img.hotovercloc…

It existed for a little while in 3.0 I think. When you entered say "8800" in the Vga quick search it would list all the variations + (# of submissions). Can we get that back? Extremely helpful when looking for popular hardware. Or if that is too DB intensive how about a HW Popularity Ranking page?

I've got another idea (if you're tired of them, let me know or I won't stop ). The clue is how many boints you can get with a certain testbed or piece of hardware. For example, I've got a good platform for socket 939 and want to check, how many boints I can achieve. I select CPU categories and get a list of records and boints for them. A summarize for each category would be nice. Of course, an application selection should be made besides the CPU one. For example, I've got good hardware for PCMark and can make a good challenge there, but have nothing to do in the rest because of the cooling. And there should be an overall search without defining the CPU (G…

Hello, I would like to suggest some changes in links so it would be better to browse through the site. Country links like http://hwbot.org/community/country/russian%20federation should lead to either http://hwbot.org/community/country/russian_federation/overclocker or http://hwbot.org/community/country/russian_federation/team at least this should be done on the main page - the country block and the page of country rankings http://hwbot.org/rankings/country/ Because everytime you look the country list then want to see detalized on overclockers or teams of the specific country click the one you chose and see the same list again with the only difference that the countr…
