Testing criteria 5000mhz core, 4500mhz cache, 3600mhz mems (if possible), test for lowest vcore for Cinebench R15! For scaling testing: Increase core by 1 multi to check scaling and post your results (with a screenshot) List proper batch nr, the CPU VID, the Vcore needed for 5GHz, CPU delidded yes or no, the Mobo type and used cooling See post #56 for my results Here's the current HWBOT listing: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16KxS63ka2cnht2HYbjXVtx9hcqc-ZhRatDBD2x8Up7k/edit?usp=sharing

  2. Have been using the Aorus Gaming 9 rev 1.0 with my 7800X and tried to OC now for a while meanwhile it was so bad that I bought a Asus Rampage VI Apex after a month to get some results..... There are simply too many inconsistencies in the Aorus Bios functioning to make it even close to user friendly. I follow the nice guides for the 7900x processors posted but there seem to be different menu items that should be set. Even if I turn of all the Aorus functionalities as per guides to stop it only OC one processor and thus keep all processors on full speed the system will still revert to OC one only or simply turn off. Interestingly then there is no way for me to get a b…

Hey guys! So I only recently got back into the latest hardware trends etc since I am generally an old school overclocker. But on building my new Coffee lake system for my 24.7 rig I couldn't help but give the CPU a go. Now I have done only a couple of days of testing so haven't maxed anything out yet, but I am currently running 24/7 stable clocks @1.25v which is completely stable through all AVX testing. I haven't delidded it yet or tried anything crazy beyond a simple core voltage setting and a quick multiplier increase. From what I've seen from the likes of silicon lottery etc they normally run a -3 multiplier on all AVX running so does that make my CPU better? …

  4. Hi. Can anyone suggest a cheap memory overclocking mobo alternative to M10A. ($400 here. Don't want to sink that much money hahaha). I assume any Z370 itx should be OK but which one is best. Just want 4133 16-16-16 or 4266 17-17-17 24/7 gaming and can do 4000-4133 C12 1T for fun. CPU is 8700K. Mem still try to find TDZ 3600C16. (very hard to find here in Thailand). Thanks in advance.

  5. Hi, I'm trying to OC my 7700k and while it can do 5.8 ghz just fine on my phase change for legacy benchmarks anything with avx will cause it to power throttle to 3.8 ghz. I've made sure I have no avx offset and disabled everything that should limit it's power draw in bios however it keep throttling once any avx load is put on it. Doesn't matter if it's XTU, whycruncher, or CS:GO it will throttle down to 3.8 ghz rendering all core OC pointless for those benches. I'm on a maximus ix apex and I just cannot figure out what's going on. Can someone help me find what setting or jumper I'm stupidly missing that's causing it to throttle down? I'm on phase change so it's definitely…

Hi... sorry for my bad english.. i've buy this Mb but my Vcore is 0.9/1Volt and only VID is signed correctly (1.22V for 4,7 7820X) why?

  8. I haven't been able to find info on this so maybe it's just me and i've set something wonky but i just watched this video , where he disables SVID but then still manages to monitor power draw with HWinfo and Coretemp. Different board manufacturer as i'm on Asus but i can't seem to do this as disabling SVID, which enables me to manually set Vin, disables power draw monitoring - it reads like 2-4W under load - an i want to be able to see power draw. I also want to be able to do this as i think it's ignoring the Vin voltage i've set which i think is making me power limited running small FFT with AVX. I can't draw more than 290W. In the video he draws over 300W. A…

  9. Hi there, Hope this is correct forum... couldn't decide between rookies, general or this one, but chose this one due to it being the platform i'm on. Little backstory... i have a 7900x on a Prime-A. When i first got it i went into the BIOS and synced all cores to 44 and left all voltages on Auto. I loaded HWinfo and ran small FFT's with Prime and then noted the maximum voltage drawn on each core. They were all drawing between 1.2 and 1.25V except for 2 of them, 1 of which isn't a very good core and i've already finished clocking it and just need to try downvolting it some more. The other seems a good core in a way though. At 4.4GHz on Auto voltage it drew 1.334V, …

I'm loosing my hair trying to work this out but I've run out of ideas. See below; After loading the FiraDisk driver & AHCI drivers from the earlier page I get to the first install page. As soon as I'm presented with this page my keyboard switches off. I've taken the keyboard out of the port and then plugged it back in so it's working again but I get no response on this page. I've tried another 2 keyboards and get the same thing. I've tried different USB 2 & 3 ports and it happens every time. I've not got a PS2 converter to try that though. At this point I can't install XP. I've done everything else fine with the process from the XP install gu…

Hello. So, i've upgraded my pc to the next configuration: cpu i7 6700k + cooler Scythe Ninja 4, Asrock z170 pro4s motherboard, gpu card gtx 1070 and 16gb ddr4. I started to OC my cpu to see if i can make it stable at 4.5ghz, because that's the point where i want to keep it. I stabilized it at 4.5ghz(45x100mhz), all core option in bios, at 1.32V and LLC Level 3 (on Level 1&2 it wasn't stable, got blue screen for each). On idle when i turn on my pc, on cpu-z the voltage shows up 1.312V(even though on bios it's Core Voltage Manual set: 1.32V), and because of the LLC Level 3, in stress test with prime95 and aida64, after 10 minutes each, it was stable, but the vo…

  15. As i was playing with the Maximus VIII Gene and tweaking ram i came to notice how things work regarding training and having the right RTL/IO depending on frequency and CAS latency. It is important to understand that having properly set RTL/IO will also gain stability versus non optimized training and of course give you that small amount of performance needed to beat damn bullant's 32M run Having said that i tested the following method on basically all memory IC's on the market and found out that it works good . What have i done here ? Basically i found how to set the proper RTL/IO combination that fits given frequency/cas timings. First of all,Skylake i…

  16. Hi overclockers! I wanted to share some of my experiences with Skylake. I have to say, that this might only work for Asus boards, although I’ve tried full pot also on GBT, which seemed to work as well! Many of us know the Ice-Ball crack. Therefore, I’ve tested a hell lot of pastes, whereas FRESH Grizzly turned out to be the best! Read it here (in the meanwhile I’ve tested around 15 more pastes!): http://forum.hwbot.org/showthread.php?t=144109 After I knew, that grizzly is the best, I’ve tried some things and found one preparation/setting combo, that works on more 60 chips on cold! None of these chips had any CB nor a crack within the first hour of…

  18. After a great deal of frustration am finding F20d bios highly uncooperative with overclocking Kaby on LN2. Additional voltages required are limited to 1.5v and DMI is absent from bios and Tweak Launcher. Missing 400mhz+ on a known chip in comparison to other mobos.

Hi to all, I'm new to this forum and have a question regarding PCIe overclocking. Is it possible to OC the PCIe interface to increase speed for I/O between CPU and GPU? Background: I use my GPU mainly for simulation of protein folding for cancer research. (folding.standford.edu) On related forum foldingforum.org it is stated regularly that calculation 'speed' is limited by PCIe speed. Therefore it would be interesting to know how to OC PCIe speed. Newbie here... Good news! I have a stable OC at 4.8Ghz testing fine in Prime95! I think my vCore is too high. as I'm still hitting temps in high 80s and some spikes to mid 90s. I've been able to reduce vCore in IXTU successfully by -0.04 and up to -0.045 and run stable Benchmark (~1590marks) and Stress Tests...and my temps come down to low to mid 80s and stay there. Bad news! IXTU settings don't stick on reboot or on awake from sleep. When I try using EasyOC to reduce vCore, it always crashes (it only accepts 1.36v at 4.8Ghz, everything else is a crash over or under). When I go direct to BIOS, vCore is listed as "Auto" and nothing I can do will make this fie…

Hey I wanna get a 7600K and (moderately) OC as well. Sadly I can not afford one of the top OC boards like OC-Formula or Maximus. The budget for the board tops out at 145€. So this is bascially the list I can choose from: Z270 List (or a few more if I would take a Z170 Z170+Z270 List) Sadly I don't know which of these boards do well with OC. I will be using air cooling (Scythe Mugen). Any tips would be appreciated.
