When I'm testing a new board or memory, I always like to check the low-clock PI32M threads to compare performance on a clock-per-clock basis. I know those on XS and OCX, but apart from that I have no idea. Please drop a link of any SPI-32M low-clock challenge thread in here

  3. Hey Folks! AwardFabrik had a blast together with ASUS during 30.10.2010. We invited the best members of our hwbot team to hunt for some more points. LN2 and hardware was partly provided by ASUS. I would love to tell you the real big interesting news during that event but it's all under NDA. Michael or better known as "no_name" (yeah he still can do it -.-) preparing NDA-things LINK TO FULL ARTICLE WITH ALL IMAGES We all met in Frankfurt am Main - some other hw-site owners, reporters and writers joined the event for watching new platforms. massman and leeghoofd came for gaming and showing they can build together and turn on a quad sli rig. …

Hey guys, I had a discussion with Dinos22 regarding the difference in efficiency between R3E and UD9 with multi-VGA and Vantage, so I spend some time testing the boards I have here for scaling. Since this is pretty pointless, I thought I might as well justify the time spent on it by making a nice graph and posting that in a forum for everyone to watch. With a few pats on the back, I might feel a little more happy about doing this ... Conclusion is pretty simple: find a decent CPU and a decent pair of GPUs because the difference in efficiency is insignificant and un-important. Only for 3-Way SLI the implementation of the UD7 and R3E seems to be a tad better, but n…

  8. The normal image of ITX platform for users is hard to find in the market, price is high and old generation chipset. Even it’s the NoteBook CPU socket or SO-DIMM design to make ITX platform price go even higher. Intel launched 32nm Core i3/i5 CPU early this year and also launched H55/H57 chipset at the same time. Also, many MB manufacturers launched LGA 1156 ITX MB. The price is lower than past ITX MB. New spec ITX MB uses PC spec CPU and DDR3 that makes ITX product be more easy to use and cheaper. This review is to introduce the high performance ITX platform with latest products. First of all, the CPU is Intel latest unlocked version, K series, Core i5 65…

hi, It's a secret for nobody, the 169.21 forcewares are perfect for old benchmarks such as 3d01 unfortunately I can't activate SLI for my 8800gts 512 on windows XP with this drivers (mobo : Rampage II gene) I simply don't have the SLI option in the nvidia control panel In gpu-z on one card it's said "sli available", and on the other card is said "disabled" and gpuz thermal and frequency sensors work fine for both (by the way both are recognized by windows) The strangest is that if I install the 185.85 forcewares, I have the SLI option in the nvidia control panel and the sli can be enabled easily Does someone have a trick to activate SLI with the 169.…

  11. Several newcomers have entered the motherboard market in recent years, and thinking back on it, I actually miss the old days of intense competition between all the various motherboard manufacturers. Nowadays consumers see fewer and fewer choices, many of which belong to the three major motherboard manufacturers. At the same time, it seems that motherboard prices are getting higher and higher; if there were a greater variety of manufacturers vying for customers within the market, consumers would be the true winners. ECS has returned to the Taiwan market this year, and has put a lot of effort into giving its new motherboard products some exposure. ECS seems to be …

Hey, I have a DFI LANPARTY X38 T2RB motherboard, I'm using this software to check NB and chipset temps under load, but I'm not sure if the temps reading are accurate. For example, my CPU reading in Real Temp at this moment is 38 degrees Celsius , while SG shows it's 44 degrees Celsius on both cores (C2D E8400). Is there a way to verify if the reading of the NB,Chipest and the CPU , maybe I need to tweak the program ? Thank you . *When I'm trying to check my OC stability , the CPU hits 75 degrees in SG while on REALTEMP and HWMONITOR its on 66 degrees. Should I just ignore the CPU readings ? How can I confirm that they are wrong ?

  13. The Radeon HD 5XX0 series is the latest generation of all ATI’s product lines, the main features of which are using more 3D technology and more advanced process of the chips. Plus, the product roadmaps of ATI and AMD are quite similar. The products are all built either with higher C/P rates or with variety of choices for users to make the purchase by their budget easily. There are several kinds of product lines on the PC market: 5900 / 5800 / 5700 / 5600 / 5500 / 5400, which brought ATI new series VGA card a very good comment from the market. I once shared an article about ATI Radeon HD “4670” at the end of 2008, and it turned out that based on the C/P rat…

  14. E7 version of be quiet! Straight Power series is the latest version launched by BQT. The models from earlier E7 version are 480W, 580W and 680W. These 3 models are all cable management (CM version) power supplies and surely their prices are a bit higher because of the relatively costly CM design. Straight Power also has its non-CM version in the market, including 500 and 600W. In terms of selling prices in the market, their prices are surely a few hundred bucks lower than that of E7 CM version. The focus of new E7 version launched this time is on 80+ Bronze Certification and the SilentWings FDB fan integrated. This new series not only is compliant to Rev. 5.…

  15. A few days ago Sophocles ( sofos1990 ) asked me if I wanted to bench with him and his cr@ppy Core i7 980X, he purchased a Sparkle GTX 480 and wanted to get some numbers down with that setup before selling that bloody 980X of his. So I said "sure, why not", I haven't had an LN2 session in the last few... months and I needed some of that benching adrenaline, after some phone calls all the details were taken care of and we had a date : I picked his brand new card and my Palit GTX 480 as well and gave them a nice conformal spray bath. Since sofos1990's 980X was better ( despite being a cr@ppy CPU ) than my best 980X ( how typical ) I decided to take down some numbers with…

  16. Hi all! It was once again that time of the year, when I tried to gather some of my friends to have some fun in Finland. This year I had my own vacation at the normal event time, so we decided to do something different. Assembly summer is the biggest lanparty we have here in Finland and that is perfect place to do some extreme overclocking. The main sponsor of the event in Assembly was Jimm's. Jimm's is the best PC shop in Finland and they are really excited about the stuff we do. The OC crew were..: Massman-Belgium (likes young children like most belgians and have awful buttsweat) Predator-Spain (sleep..forgot all the stuff..most drunk) Ryba-Poland (had som…

  17. Hi guys, I was expecting that the bundled software called Gigabyte SOC Tuner that comes with the $499 card would actually work and probably one of the selling points of this card. Turns out the software doesn't work. You raise the voltages on SOC Tuner and nada on the multimeter. Will Gigabyte address this issue like MSI had to with MSI Afterburner (Lightnings had the same problem)? I'm afraid cards will return to reseller as 'defective' once users realize the bundled software is not working and the cards only runs at stock volts.

Hi all, could anybody suggest a complete set of BIOS settings to o/clock my comp? I've tried tweaking the BIOS but I can't get the CPU o/clocked and I'm not familiar with voltages/bus speeds etc. and the more technical side of things-I'm a little worried about damaging my hardware if I play with these settings. I've also tried EasyTune 6 and all it does is cause my comp to crash and I have to reset BIOS settings to default in order to get it to boot again. Below are my comp specs. Motherboard: GA-EP45T-UD3P v1.0 CPU: Intel Core2 Q6600 2.4 GHz RAM: G.Skill DDR3 1333 7-7-7-18 1.6v (2x2Gb installed) BIOS: F7 COOLING: Arctic Cooling Freezer XTRE…

Any 890GPA-UD3H owners out there ? Notice a MHZ limit on the ram ? I cant get my ram much over 900/1800mhz , as soon as it goes over 1800mhz speed I get the blue screen of death .. Now I can run 7-8-7-18-25 all the way up to 900/1800 , and even with relaxed timings the result is the same once I go over 900/1800 .. Now Ive used 2 different brands of ram , and the same result , just wont go over 1800mhz . I contacted Gigabyte , and they told me its my RAM ?? [ Pish - posh ] I think its the BIOS , the web site sais the board does not support ram over 1800mhz , but to affect overclocks ?

  22. Intel has launched LGA 1156 structure around 1 year, and the CPU product line is also plenty. If we divided into Chipset, P55 is mainly for Core i5-750/Core i7-860 and 870. They are 4C/4T or 4C/8T structure, more CPU Cores, better performance and ATX form factor MB. Another 2 chipset are H55/H57. H57 is not popular due to its high price. H55 is mainly for All In One. The CPU built-in GPU is the new design. Main CPU product line has Core i3-5X0/Core i5-6X0 2 series, and they are 2C/4T Cores mainly. Of course, both series CPU can be installed with P55/H55. But P55 has no VGA output function, you still need external VGA with Core i3-5X0/Core i5-6X0. Core i5-750/Co…

  23. I've bought this board months ago, but it shipped with the totally wrong bios making it impossible to boot the X4 Deneb straight away. So, bought an old Sempron CPU, flashed the bios, mounted the X4 Deneb again and everything should be working. Sadly enough, that wasn't the case: gave up on the board for a few weeks, then last weekend decided to give it another spin. After much trying, I finally got it to boot just the one time ... and after much more trying I finally got it working somewhat properly ... Just wondering if there are other guys or gals out there who have touched this board and if they are willing to share some info. I had a great time with the LGA775 As…

  25. November 2008, Intel launched their next generation platform, Core i7. It’s been over 2.5 years after launching X58+ICH10R. 2009, all MB makers were busy to sell Intel P55/H55. Some users misunderstood the P55 is the latest platform. I used to emphasize my view that P55 is for mid-high range and X58 is still the most hi-end product of Intel. It’s approved by the market, however, X58 has been quiet for a long time. 2010, many MB makers start to push USB3 and SATA3. Also, Intel announced 32nm 6Cores CPU to support X58. Most MB makers revised their X58 models and make it be more popular in the market. GIGABYTE launched new X58A series which add USB3 and SATA3 spec.…
