  2. I have been thinking what if someone could add the cpu micro code to z170 bios to recognize these Kaby lake cpus that dont have an unlocked multiplier on motherboards that allow non K Overclocking on Skylake or if some brand keeps this feature by default(asrock could)

  7. So it seems that Kaby Lake will have a Pentium G4620 which features hyper-threading. In addition the CPU is clocked at 3.8 GHz, making th difference with the Core i3 7300: 200 MHz less frequency 1MB less L3 cache Some missing instruction sets Who's interested in Core i3? Hi lads, I asked no#1 Intel expert that I know of this question, but he did not want to comment, because its undocumented pins, but perhaps, being HWBOT, someone know and can give a friendly heads up. Picture found on google, I didnt do a picture when delid.. Its the 4 pins close to DIE I would like to know... Thing is, I am considering LM TIM, and I don't feel too safe with pins that close... Any advice? Silikone on the pins just in case?

Additional Maximus IX Apex LN2 guide This post has the guide from elmor included as well es some „new“ things, since the board should be widely available now. You can find all the tools and bioses here: http://forum.hwbot.org/showthread.php?t=165086 Preparation Just follow this thread, to prepare your CPU properly: http://forum.hwbot.org/showthread.php?t=154112 Now my method to let kabylake fly in different benchmarks. Let’s start with cooling down. Once your setup is mounted and LN2 mode is enabled, you want to go into bios. To make it as easy as it could be, Asus implemented some really helpful profiles, which worked on almost all retail…

  10. Hello everyone! Hoping you can help me with my OC. Firstly - worth mentioning I have a binned 5Ghz 7700k - which I have de-lidded for temps, and using the latest bios. I initially thought my OC was stable @ offset voltage resulting in ~ 1.360 (I can't get 1.350, either 1.344 or 1.360 - I know from the bin that 1.350 is the spot). However, crashed a few times while gaming I am now back to Manual set to 1.350 - LLC 6. Full settings in screenshots below. Prime95 has been stable @ large 1344 FFT for an hour (more to do) - but realbench (specifically, lux mark) crashes. I think that may be an issue with my drivers as its the display that seems to crash …

Hey everyone, Ive been interested in overclocking and learning how to overclock safely for a long time but I have never attempted it. Ive just recently upgraded my build from an AMD FX-8350 Black Edition to an Intel i5 6600k. Im not looking to o/c the daylights out of my computer but more of something stable to use and perform better while mostly gaming. Thats not to say that in the future I wouldnt be interested in competing or anything. My current build is all air cooled as I am not 100% comfortable with the idea of water and electronics. You can find my build here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tTmMyf. If you have any insight on anything please let me know.

Hi guys im planning to buy one of theses 2 processors and a extreme4 board to start on the non k oc`ing world since they are more affordable then others. My questions are: 1 - Due to the low tdp focus (lower multi compared to the non T versions) my oc capabilities somehow will be limited? 2 - The multi limit displayed on progams like CPU z can be overrided? I already know for example that i5 6400t have max around 22 while normal 6400 is 33. 3 - A high bclk value like 200+mhz could cause some issues or instabilities on the system? I want to say thanks to all folks here at this forum. Very helpfull informations only searching on the topics created by others ppls.

Hi guys. Where can I find BIOS for Supermicro H170 or Z170 boards? I want to to try and boost my i5-6400, but the boards have old BIOSes and I can't find any new online. If anyone knows where to find them, can you please post a link? I see DHENZJHEN running November BIOS and then a December BIOS, so I guess he got it somewhere. I have October BIOS and the whole Extra Performance Menu is missing. Help would be very appreciated EDIT: GOT it! http://forum.hwbot.org/showpost.php?p=421966&postcount=6

I was wondering how you guys are checking your mount using delidded Skylake/Kaby lake? What I usually do is run XTU at something like 5GHz and watch the CPU package temperature vs. my LN2 pot temperature. I like to see 0 degree package temps under load at no warmer than -30C on my pot. With that said, I've had terrible luck so far with SL CPU deaths, I've had them run the bench session and not survive a reinstall, as well as die sitting on my desktop gathering dust.

  18. Hey fellas, I've had my i3-6100 BCLK overclocked on my MSI Z170A Sli Plus board for several months but have only now realized a discrepancy which may or may not be anything to worry about. The issue lies in the clock speed which I have it set to and what it's being reported as. Windows, 3DMark, Geekbench, Cinebench and I am sure others all report the speed at 3.7Ghz whereas the only program which acknowledges the correct speed is CPU-Z. The post screen will also show the correct BCLK of 111.1 (I lost the silicone lottery) and the BIOS itself will show the correct speed of 4111. I assume BIOS > all when it comes to readings but I'm just making sure if th…

  20. So many of you have asked if it was possible to include points for low-clock challenges like the SuperPI 5G. In another thread (which I cannot locate at the moment) I explained the difficulties with adding a limited clock frequency 'benchmark' at HWBOT and enable points. The easy alternative is to use the oc-esports competition engine to enable points. To show how it would work, I set up a Skylake 5G Tweaker's Challenge. Here's the link: http://oc-esports.io/#!/round/skylake_5g_tc. Disclaimer: please note that this is just a test/tryout of the concept and the points may be disabled in the future. There are 3 challenges for Skylake up to 5003 MHz: XTU, SuperPI 32M,…

  21. Hey guys, Some of you have been asking about making the Z170X-SOC Force LN2 board retail. I'm not sure if it will actually go retail, but a possible way out would be to do a group-order ourselves. Who'd be interested in buying one of the LN2 board? If there is sufficient demand, it should be possible for HWBOT to do the order and then ship to everyone else.

Actually pushing some testing with it,it is for sure going to be popular motherboard for Kingston HOT Literally DDR4-4000 with this board and Kingston AFR was only a few minutes tweak, previous only could hardly boot 3733 and anything over is not a go with classic motherboard.Seems one dimm per channel motherboards is the way to go with skylakefail Will update tmrw with Samsung E-die,so far with A-die,all air ambient temps : DDR4-4000 14-19-19-28-1T 1.84V DDR4-4050 13-19-19-28-1T 1.93V Updated the thread with USB BiosFlashback port and some shots of VRM,very good components used !

  23. Hi guys. I have 2 questions. I am currently using i5-6500 with ASUS Z170-A and TDZ 3600 CL17. I can't really decide between regular OCF or M8I for memory OC. M-OCF is not available in my country. I plan to push RAM to 3866-4000 12-11-11-28 for fun (My Z170-A currently set record at 3754 12-11-11-28-200-2T). And 3866-4000 or more with CL15 or 16 1.45V for daily use. I prefer M8I as it has 2 dimm slot. But it must be so ugly to fit ITX board in standard ATX case (NZXT H440). Will OCF perform as good as M-OCF ? Also Anyone using Koolance 380i with M8I ? will it fit ? If it can't fit than I have no choice but to choose OCF. Thanks in advance and sorry for too…

  24. Hello! I have Motherboard GA-Z170-D3H and trying to OC i5 6400 with bclk. And i have some troubles. PSU Cougar PowerX 550w, memory Kingston 2133 cl15 (green, cheap) Using bios F5c Settings BCLK 167, vcore 1,37, vccio 1,250, vccsa 1,250, dram volt 1,360, mem ~2250mhz 15-15-15-36 timings, CPU Load Line Calibration - high Okay. And i have troubles of booting my computer after turning off in windows. When i do so, i see looping reboot. I still can normally reboot, can normally boot if remove power cable for a while. Actually, i need that high vccio/vccsa to boot "cold". Without it it can't boot at all. That boot problem is very annoying. It occurs wh…
