Would anyone know where I might be able to find a decent guide to explain some of the newer features in the BIOS on this MB vs the older X99 Deluxe and possibly some insight into OCing a Broadwell-E CPU instead of my older Haswell-E CPU? I just finished this build a few days ago, and most of my time has been updating drivers, software, etc. From what I gathered, OCing Broadwell-E vs Haswell-E is going to require a little more tuning, so I want to familiarize myself with some of the newer BIOS features by hopefully finding a quick guide/explanation of the differences, and most importantly, maybe something that has been thrown together by someone who has actually used this …

When I look at batch and serial numbers for Nehalem (X58) I never seem to end up here (I found the other sites). That is because there is no list on this site as far as I know off. Since i7 9x0 cpu's are low priced now it is a nice platform to overclock for a small budget and just to have some fun. I have a small list (attached) for the cpu's I benched lately. Feel free to add... Edit: I have a 980x (and had a W3680) as well but I never tested it above 0C. Edit 2: More info on picture and a small mistake.

Hey guys. I'm a newbie in OC and I currently build up my first pc. Shame on me, but I wonder if you could tell me what settings I have to choose for my non-k i5 6500 to optimize it's performance. I don't want to use the custom BIOS for overclocking. At least for now. First I rather go step by step as I learn how my components work together. It would be great if you oc-gods could come down from your thrones to help me with your guidance. I have a ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming, a Thermaltake Water 3.0 Performer Cooler (should be enough), 4x4Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 2800MHz and, of course, my Tray i5 6500. Thanks! I'm looking to downgrade from my 4.5GHz 1.18v 5960X for some money to spend on other parts of my rig (probably monitor) and I wanted to know which Xeons can be BCLK OCed to at least 4GHz or more would be amazing.

Hello, i have a problem... i got an gigabyte Z77X-UD3H and i can set the max of the multiplier to x40 so very stable 4,0 ghz i5 3570k. I used Intel eXtreme tuning utility to set them to x44 for 4,5ghz but it changes nothing.. is there any way for me to set it up to 44? With an unlocked bios? or something else? I would be very happy if it is so... Please help me or tell me at least that there is no other way.. ah i forgot, i pushed the fsb to 105 but it was very unstable and brought me many issues. greetz Mike =)

  12. Hello, guys! This is my first post... My name is Georgi, I'm 24 years old and im a hobbyist overclocker. Decided to get into the real world of overclocking by entering my favourite OC website Now about my post... I decided to build myself a water chiller and overclock... But then I bumped into a stop. While I was trying to reach 5ghz on a X5660 Xeon, the motherboard bottlenecked me at 221 "Host Clock Frequency". I am 99% sure it's the motherboard. Why: -> I have isolated the ram and cpu and the mobo crashes at 221-22. -> I did not see an entry with a higher hcf than what I manage to reach. -> I am actively cooling the motherboard…

Not sure if this is in the right section. If not, Mods please move. I swapped out CPUs on my Rampage Extreme from a E5200 to a E8600, no post. Thinking that I needed a BIOS Update, I put the E5200 back in the socket with no post. What I going on? I have cleared CMOS and removed the battery.* Full System Specs: Asus Rampage Extreme Intel Pentium E5200 2x2GB Corsair Dominator v2.1 EVGA Supernova G2 PSU 500GB HDD MSI R9 290X Lightning

  14. Guys and gals (?), I would certaily use some help / advices, on how to make my M.2 SSD device visible in bios of my new Asus Z97-Pro (WiFi ac) mainboard. I bought this one recently, to get a new -QUIET- build for gaming and apart from 1T WD HDD & DVD-RW Samsung SH-224DB I get a 128G Samsung SM951 M.2 SSD drive. Upon inserting it into the mainboard: ...it is getting reasonably hot (especially the first chip - controller), so it should work, yet it fail to show up in the Z97-Pro bios at al. So I cannot partition the SSD, nor start installing Win7 on it. ... I tried to set the setting in Advanced / PCH Storage Configuration - SATA Express(SATAEXPRES…

Hey everybody, noob overclocker here, however I'm no stranger to computers. I built my rig a year ago and am deciding it's time to give it some more juice. i5-4690k w/Z97x Gaming 7 mobo using XTU: I understand that to raise the core/cache clock past a certain point, you need to up the core voltage. My CPU is stable at 4.2ghz with default/stock voltage settings, so I figured it's alright to leave it there. Temps are excellent under full CPU load with all cores enabled at around 49-52°C. I've tried pushing it to 4.3ghz with the core voltage at +1.2v and it crashes. I have not messed around with any BIOS settings as I've read many mixed posts on what people think is b…

Just picked up a x58 classy board and a 920 to gain some more points and general thrashing now i have never had the pleasure of tweaking this platform yet and its causing a few headaches, mainly a lock up issue at always 225bclk. No matter what voltages, auto or giving it some it locks up at 225, i have dropped the multi and it locks up at 225. It will pass any bench at 224 which leads me to think its hard drive related. Theres no bsod it just freezes in windows. Qpi is low and ram speed is also set low to rule these out. I have tried the main port which i believe is connected to the south bridge and also tried the jmb red port near the pcie lane and both do the sam…

Hey gang! Im new to the world of overclocking and have a problem. I use XTU and got a stable overclock at 4.1GHz. I moved houses upgraded to an SSD, but now the Porcessor Frequency doesn't fluctuate with the CPU Utilization at all. It used to only ramp up when I was playing games. Can anyone help? Thanks so much for you time!!!

I got a bit more rencent CPU - i5 750 Lynnfield with somewhat decent mainboard (MSI P55A-GD55 - Intel P55 chipset socket 1156 mainboard rev. 2.1) and since I was not overclocking such CPU ever, I would like to get some tips from guys that are sucesfull and know, what these chips want and how to get them to run fastest. The basic specs of my i5 750 Lynnfield are 2.66GHz with turbo 3.2GHz, witch looks slow to me. About the overclock - well, I just at first used the OC genie, but that won't get me far (3GHz base clock, IIRC 3.4GHz turbo). First I just copied what the OC genie do, but then I get into some manual tweaking. OC genie pushed Vcore hard: Vcore +0.278V…

  21. Well, I dubt many people do it, but ... it is fun! How did that happend? Well, the build was used to run the Sapphire A9RX480 mainboard (Opteron 148), so I just swapped the mainboard for MSI P55A-GD55 - Intel P55 chipset, socket 1156 mainboard rev. 2.1 and when the Windows tried to boot, it failed and reset come each time. Then I just disabled the Spread Spectrum (recommended for better O/C setting) and tried some Memtest and suddently the machine started booting into Windows 2000 SP4 Czech...! I was in shock, but these old Winblows booted up and started installing things to run...! It took many, many and many reboots till it install all it could and give me a mouse (…

  23. Score is calculated within the first 1.5s of the bench. Sooooo set your clocks, open bench run 1.5s then flick slow mode switch. I prefer slow mode switch because it will down clock your CPU speed and your Cache speed to x8 multi. Will take 2-3 minutes to finish the bench, I usually go sweep or do chores till I hear the fans going full speed again (they will spin down a little under load). Now you know what most of the pros know about XTU. 6.1ghz garbage 1m chip can run 5.82ghz 4c8t using this method. Your chips should not get as much strain as well using this method, there is very little heat at 1ghz I dont even pour while its running, just when I need to turn slow mode …
