--- For Ambient behavior there is again another guide from Falkentyne in the OCN.NET forum -> LINK --- -- BIOS FLASHBACK PORT Red marked is the BIOS FLASHBACK PORT, Rename your File to MZ790A.CAP before flashing. -- Mainboard Buttons / Measurement -- Microcode Switch There is a new feature for switching the Microcode on the current BIOS, current is default (no need to switch for now) -- Safe Boot Mode If you change the BIOS slot and then restart the motherboard, the first boot will automatically start with the safe boot mode. For everyone who gets a Gigabyte Z690 Tachyon, here is some information including bios. As applies everywhere else in the OC area, the settings shown here are NOT suitable for 24/7 Systems! Therefore, please do this at your own risk. The settings vary depending on the CPU and memory; here, as is so often the case, you have to find the right settings for yourself. With the X2d Bios it is possible to read out "Biscuits" or as it is called by Asus “SP”, ATTENTION, these do not match the values from Asus, as the readout method is different. Thus, an SP90 at Asus can be Biscuits 93 at Gigabyte. In the "1 Core Voltage Prediction" area you can…

--- For Ambient behavior and DDR5 Voltage Basics there is already a perfect guide by Falkentyne in the ASUS ROG forum -> LINK -- - BCLK Buttons On the new Apex there are BCLK +/- Buttons For the onboard bclk buttons you will need to manually enable them in bios/tweakers paradise - Measurement Points - LN2 CBB -150c to none CB mostly none (no rsvd switch needed) No need to specifically set pll term or cpu standy (don’t seem to help cbb) The cpus must have some kind of pll bug when cold whereby they can all of a sudden keep upping frequency limitlessly, like the pll is capped at a certain freq: …

I'd like to share a quick overview on the EVGA Z690 DARK KP and it's key features tailored for the XOC crowd - both veterans and rookies. Me personally I appreciate the pragmatic approach of the bios that maximises the ease of use by offering the options that really matter. It goes without saying that with the introduction of DDR5 this gen the team focused a lot on memory tuning which is going to be reflected in many areas within the bios. Disclaimer: Consider everything given below as “educational material” and provided AS IS. Proceed with caution and at your own risk as only you are responsible for the possible outcome of out of spec stress. To kick things off…

https://www.evga.com/articles/01595/EVGA-Z790-motherboards/Default.asp Welcome back for a quick introduction to the Z790 DARK KP. I've always enjoyed TiN's "uncorked" guides on xdevs for EVGA hardware, while this here is far from meeting the same level of detail, I kind of really like it to be in the same spirit. The Z790 DARK KP has additional PCB layers (now 14) and optimized traces to improve DRAM signals. That and the option to have the second PCIE slot to be x16 too for increased space to accommodate external GPU heating solutions are key differenciators and might also help PC builders to route they PCIE extention more efficiently. Once again yo…

I have a Z690 Unify X, and I wanted to use Dragon Power. It works fine when the processor is at stock settings, but when I overclock in the BIOS, Dragon Power freezes the PC after making changes. Any ideas?

Hi, I am looking for some help and guidance please. I am not an expert in OC - far away from that, however my I-7 14700K seems to be throttling while running IXT. Simple 5 minutes stress test and it's throttling on Current/EDP + thermal throttling. I have run a stress test on AIDA Extreme, same thing. I have flashed the latest BIOS update for Asus ROG Maximus Dark Hero Z790 which did not help. I have CPU sitting under Corsair H150 RGB Liquid CPU Cooler - 360mm AIO and CPU package comes up as high to around 100C. I have tried on default Intel's settings in BIOS, supposedly the latest BIOS and microcode update should have resolved the issue but it didn't. Power …

Yes, it says Z690, not Z790. According to Gigabyte, this board "only" supports memory up to a maximum of 6200MT, highlighted here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z690-AORUS-PRO-rev-1x/sp#sp However, since I was always very curious by nature, I had my doubts, so I thought, since so many "experts" are not able to differ between a system state called "idle" and the "whatever M$ does with your computer, at a time when you were made to believe, that your computer is supposed to be "idle", but isn't." If they are wrong about the real idle power consumption of a computer, that has an Intel Core i7-13700K aka Raptor Lake CPU, which is around 26.1 Watts, not 5…

Hello, I hope everyone is having a nice evening/day. A few weeks ago I bought new components for my PC: Intel Core i9-14900K 2x 64GB (2x32GB) G.Skill Trident Z DDR5 6400MHz (F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK) ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 Dark Hero I know that a lot of people are having troubles with DDR5 RAM, especially when its a 128GB setup but I wanted to test it myself. So while trying to install my windows my mainboard already had troubles with the 128GBs of RAM. PC didnt want to start and I wasnt even able to load the BIOS. Got it fixed by removing 2x32GB RAM and restarting the PC. After Windows and some Driver Updates got…

Hi, Sigh, I've been trying for a week now to OC the darn CPU but just a little - 55ghz on all core (including HT) | 43ghz on E.cores. Here are my XTU settings... in the BIOS the profile chosen is spec enhanced, LLC is on high and the vcore is on 1.450v. I'm also using my RAM's XMP profile : G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6800 (PC5 54400) Desktop Memory Model. Would appreciate some help please. Thanks in advance, Chris.

Does anyone have confirmed SLI working with lower end Video Cards? I have checked the spec’s for the z690 and only MSI and EVGA list Nvidia SLI Technology support. I have a ASUS z590 Apex with a 11900k that refused to run my 2 GTX-450’s. I checked the manual and it stated “NVidia SLI Technology supported - Support Varies with Different Cards. I have tried my GTX-450/550/560 and it posts with a single card. When I insert 2 cards, the board refused to post. I have checked both Primary/Secondary PCIe slots and they work when only 1 card is used. I first thought it was the 11900k (Because of PCIe Gen 4 support) so I purchased a 10900k (still no luck) and then a z490 Hero whic…

MSI Z690 UNIFY-X and other MEG series BIOS remove all memory limit overclocking parameter templates, leaving Hynix 4800MHZ! ! ! In the past, DDR4 MEG series boards have at least 7-8 groups of restricted parameters in addition to the TRY IT option. Other memory limit parameter options have at least 7-8 groups of limit parameters! ! Samsung, Hynix, and Micron all have high-voltage operating parameters. Finally, there will be 4.5 sets of LN2 parameters. This time DDR5 completely removed these parameters that should have been. Especially the MEG series and LN2 mode boards, This time DDR5 must have been completely dismantled by MSI engineers! great! There is a …
