  6. I have looked through many but not all of the post in this section. All of the ones I looked at no longer have pictures or external Links that work ? Here is my problem that others will have when grabbing this setup. The memory that I have will run faster than 2133 or 2400 if the BIOS would boot that high. I have G.Skill Trident DR3-2000 9-9-9-27 (BBSE), Corsair Dominator GT DDR3-2133 9-10-9-24 (PSC), and G.Skill Trident X DDR3-2666 11-13-13-35 (CFR). With DDR5 now required, DDR3-2000/2133/2400 are plentiful and cheap. You still have to pay for faster memory with tighter timings 2133 @ 8-8-8-24, speeds over 2400, high overclocking IC's, ect, ect -> I…

  7. Hello, I've started planning a build around an Intel i5-2500K CPU, simply because it seems like a safe quad-core to go with. So I've been going through info for compatible motherboards (Intel sandy bridge) and basically it comes down to the H67 vs. P67 chipsets. From wh 192.168.1.254 at I understand, the P67 requires a video card but the H67 just uses the integrated video processor in the i5-2500K. Also, I hear the P67 is much better for overclocking/th can't usually do it at all. Overclocking has been something I've been struggling to understand, so I don't know if this is something that should even affect my selections. 10.0.0.0.1 Q1: For gamin…

Hi, recently i really got into overclocking locked sandy bridge cpus like the i3 2100, i5 2400 ect. My question is how high can those cpus clock the fsb on ambient cooling.

  9. Hey I am looking at this cpu and was hoping it would like to boot windows at high multiplier... Vcore of 1.65 V ish, going from 53 to 54 in OS makes it freeze. Posting bios at 53 and booting OS is ok, posting bios at 54 (and above) is ok but as soon as the windows logo appears, the OS freezes. Not many voltages to play with... I've increased Vcore and PLL a bit but no success. Is there still some hope you think? Cheers ++

I have a quick question about locked Sandys, is the BCLK strictly limited by the board, or is there any chance, that the CPU makes a difference as well? Asking because I'm kinda lazy and someone might know that and can save me the time to bin my 120 i3s

  11. Hi everyone First time poster and rookie/aspiring overclocker here. I've been playing around with the idea of overclocking my i5 2500K as it's starting to show it's age, at least when it comes to gaming, and I've always used the CPU at stock settings with Intel Turbo Boost enabled. I figured I would attempt the "oh-so-easy" 4.5GHz overclock that I have seen on practically every 2500K OC thread, but I seem to have run into a bit of trouble as both IntelBurnTest (5 runs, maximum stress) and Prime95 (Blend) indicate that the system is not stable. Please note that I would like to run a 24/7 OC if at all possible. I've included an image of the IBT run that was done at …

  12. Hi, CPU-Z 1.57 is reading the Vcore as VTT on my gigabyte B3 stepping P67a-UD5. Is anyone else having similar problems with B3 boards? It read correctly on B2. Does anyone have access to contacting the author about this problem?

Has anyone had experience with running Sandy on Z77? I have a UP7 that I'd like to use with a 2600K but I don't want to waste my time if it will inhibit the clocks.

  15. Hello everyone! I'm a user of HWBOT for about 4 years, had about 60 points on my old HWBOT account, haven't done much on this one. I don't know much about intel's lower end lineup, and I was under the impression that all of the 1155 pentiums were locked multiplier. Well I threw together a computer for office use today with an EVGA P67 SLI board and a Pentium G640, and while messing around in the bios, noticed that I was able to set a different value in the processor's multiplier setting. I saved the bios and to my surprise, The BIOS is showing the value I've set. I have not installed windows yet, but I certianly will get a cpuz validation when I do. I'm wo…

  16. Hey was wondering if anyone has experience with this board http://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_IV_EXTREME/ heres my issue so far i have tested two 2500k's. they both max out around 5.1GHz. even if I go sub zero on Dice the board doesnt seem to wanna scale the cpu's any higher I am using the latest official bios from asus site and have tried many bios versions to no avail. dice pot hits about -60c LN2 mode is enabled VRMs and chipset is water cooled. not sure if Im doing something wrong, surely these 2500ks will do more than 5.1ghz I hope. cpu pll voltage. tried from 1.7V-2.2V volts no change cpu vcore. tried from 1.5V-1.…

so i have these GSkill tridentX 2400 mhz C10 of 8GB each, i planned to snap them onto a IB but i'm stuck on a 2600k heh, so they max out of course at 2133 mhz unless i overclock the base clock a bit, what timings can i expect from these, i don't even know which chips are in as i'm way out of the loop and i'm not in the mood to remove the heatspreaders anyway XMP says 2400mhz CAS 10-12-12-31 at 1.65v , right now i'm at 2133 10-11-11-28, so far i have completed a super pi 32m at CAS 9 yay!!!! i'm back at bussiness haha it's for a 24/7 rig and i don't want to push forwards 1.65v on the suckers, VTT is at 1.25v the motherboard is a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H as i …

I get this message when starting AXTU (asrock oc utility). Reinstalling didn't seem to bother. Could the light version of win Xp sp3 be the reason? Or just some missing files? Thx!

Hi boys... I have a 2500K with batch L130C510 and i push it @ 5.250 MHZ under Phase Change with my ASROCK Z68 PRO3 GEN3...I would like to search the limit of this CPU; what are the best setting into the BIOS to reach the limit? I read that SANDY BRIDGE don't like much cold temperature; is it true? Can i try with air cooled around 0° of temperature? Thanks for your suggests... Andrea

    Not sure if anyone else noticed it, but there's a big difference between the different mainboard/bios combinations for 3DMark01 performance. So far I've only had luck with the Gigabyte UD4 to get good 01 runs. Any other board has performance ~ 3k to even 8k lower. Here's the data: HD 4890: CPU MHz vs CH: - 5288 - 535 - P67A-UD4 (F6x) - 5545 - 505 - P8P67 Deluxe (1053) - 5300 - 549.6 - Maximus IV extreme (0681) - 5400 - 482 - P67A-GD65 (1.8B6) - 5412 - 511.4 - Maximus IV Extreme (0681) - 5200 - 465.3 - P8P67 Pro - 4890 - 513 - P67A-UD4 (F4) - 5300 - 480 - P67A-GD55 (1.8B5) - 5366 - 525.8 - P67A-UD4 (F7b) As far as my own testing goes I only had good run…

I have a 2700k that I am most certain is a silicon lottery winner but due to my lack of expertise/funds I would never attemp LN2 or whatever those extreme cooling methods are.. I do want to setup a water loop eventually.. NEVER LOADED @ THESE VOLTS !! Sorry for the big picture dont know how to resize.. Basiclly seeking advice from you guys whether or not this chip is something special or just average I might sell it or wet it up!!

My main rig is a 2700K with a GTX570, cooled with chilled water. I normally keep the water temp set to 11C, which currently (at 4.5GHz) is keeping the CPU at 46C maximum when fully loaded (folding) and the GPU at 38C maximum. A couple of nights ago I did some more benching, and turned the water temp down to 3C to see if I could get the CPU over 5.5 GHz. As soon as the water temp hit 8C, the computer shut down. It wouldn't boot again until the water in the block had increased to 9C, then it went into a cycle of boot, shut down, delay, boot, etc. It wouldn't even stay on at stock speeds as long as the water temp was allowed to drop below 9C. I upped the water temp …
